Financial Aid, Grants, and Awards Through Literacy BC

Literacy BC administers a number of financial aid programs for literacy learners and literacy programs in British Columbia. Here are the programs we offer:

Family Literacy Fund

Literacy BC will no longer be administering the Family Literacy Funds program, as it no longer meets the objectives of Post Media's Raise-A-Reader program. If you have any questions about the Family Literacy Fund program, please contact Diana Twiss at dtwiss@decoda.ca.

Did you receive 2010 funding from the Family Literacy Fund?

If you received a Family Literacy Fund grant in 2010, you need to submit a final report by June 30, 2011. Download the report form here.

PACE Bursary Fund

Applications for the 2011 PACE Bursary are now closed. Funding decisions will be made in July, 2011

Literacy BC administers the PACE Bursary Fund to support part-time participation in continuing education by adults. The bursary supports adult learners who are not eligible for financial support from student loans or other government student assistance programs and have a clear need for support. PACE Bursaries can be up to $700.

Paul Gallagher Community Access Fund

Applications for the 2011 Paul Gallagher Community Access Fund are now closed. Funding decisions will be made in July, 2011.

The Paul Gallagher Community Access Fund, named in memory of the former Literacy BC President, provides up to $750 to community-based adult learning programs. Programs can use the funds to support their students with short-term needs such as transport, childcare, books or other costs that would make the difference between attending and not attending their literacy/ABE program.

Did you receive 2010 funding from the Paul Gallagher Community Access Fund?

If you received Paul Gallagher funds in 2010, we require a report on how the funds were used. The report is due May 31, 2011. Click here to download the report form.
