Literacy BC provides training and professional development for the literacy community at the regional and provincial levels, for example through our renowned Summer Literacy Institute and many other training events. We can advise on suitable training opportunities and resources year-round. We also provide orientation information and resources to help agencies understand literacy issues, introducing newcomers to the unique challenges of adult and family learning.

  • Bi-annual Summer Literacy Institutes on topics of interest to the literacy field provide training and professional development for literacy/ABE practitioners, regional literacy coordinators, community literacy practitioners, social service agencies, researchers and educators.   • Orientation, training and resources for all new literacy program coordinators.

  • Dedicated professional development for Regional Literacy Coordinators.

  • Regional training events which focus on identified professional and skill development needs within a particular region.

  • Bi-annual provincial professional development, training and networking events for community literacy program coordinators and practitioners.

  • Workshops in a variety of content areas.

  • Electronic conferences on The Hub, the BC literacy electronic network and conferencing service.
