It is a two-year professional development project that examines ways to address learning disabilities in adult learning settings. A “whole-life approach” to learning disabilities recognizes that learning is social, cultural, emotional and also deeply personal. Successful strategies for people with learning difficulties attend to the “whole person” and diverse learning styles. In fact, successful learning strategies for people with learning difficulties can work for everyone. The Whole Life Project website contains many resources on learning disabilities, and offers interactive forums where you can share your knowledge and experience. Visit: www.ldandwholelifelearning.ca. ELMO: Exceptional Literacy Materials OnlineELMO Reviews is an interactive website featuring reviews of literacy resources by and for literacy practitioners and learners. Although the study focused on youth aged 16 to 18, the problem of low-literacy levels and at-risk behaviours among young adults extends well beyond their adolescent years. The strategies developed in this project are relevant to adult education providers and social service agencies working with young adults who have limited literacy skills and continue to be at-risk. This website provides extensive resources and tools for working with young adults. Visit: www.youthliteracy.ca |
