Making the Connections: A Series of Info Sheets on Violence and Learning Dr. Jenny Horsman has created a series of six information sheets for teachers about violence and learning. Dr. Horsman is an educator and researcher based in Toronto, whose work focuses on the impact of violence on learning. Now I Get It! Report on the National Youth Literacy Demonstration Project, by Literacy BC in partnership with Surrey School District. The report discusses comprehensive approach to building literacy skills and the behaviors required to succeed in school and in life (PDF).		Focused on Practice This national study was designed to learn about people's experiences of and interest in research in practice in adult literacy so that a framework to support practitioner research could be created (PDF).
From the Ground Up A three-year research-in-practice project to produce a system of outcome-oriented evaluation of community adult literacy programs that is useful to practitioners and learners as well as funders and policy-makers, flexible enough to accommodate the diversity among literacy programs, and rigorous in its approach to outcomes assessment (PDF).		RiPAL A grass roots network of individuals and organizations committed to research in practice in adult literacy in BC. We support research-related professional development among BC practitioners, promote research in practice, and create opportunities for practitioners to participate.
