500 children’s books donated to Newton Family Resource Program

In December 2008, the Reading Tree organization partnered with local business Wild Birds Unlimited to donate 500 children’s books to the Newton Family Resource Program run by Options Services to Communities Society in Surrey.

Reading Tree invites Lower Mainland communities to get involved by donating books they no longer need for distribution to local not-for-profit literacy programs. Bring your reusable books to book bins located in many high-traffic areas such as grocery stores and malls. All types of books are welcome – new, used, hardback and paperback. The quality children’s books collected in the bins are donated back to local early learning and elementary school age children through Children’s Miracle Network, B.C. Cancer Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs, and other literacy programs in need.
